Of East Lake

The community of East Lake is located in North East Pinellas County and is primarily a bedroom community with approx. 30,000 residents covering 33 square miles in unincorporated Pinellas County with mailing addresses from 3 separate post offices; Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, and Oldsmar. It contains over 15,000 homes and over one hundred businesses.
East Lake contains three public schools: East Lake High School; Brooker Creek Elementary School; and Cypress Woods Elementary School. In addition three child care facilities are also within the boundaries of East Lake.
For nature lovers, East Lake is home of the John Chesnut Park, a large county park, and Brooker Creek Preserve which is the largest urban wilderness preserve. Access to Lake Tarpon is available at no cost through the John Chesnut Park. Lake Tarpon is renowned for its excellent bass fishing.
East Lake is also a golfer’s paradise with six eighteen-hole golf courses: East Lake Woodlands North, East Lake Woodlands South, Tarpon Woods, Lansbrook and Wentworth.
The Pinellas Trail runs from the south end of East Lake to Tarpon Springs Avenue.
