The costal community of Tarpon Springs is located in Northern Pinellas County. There are over 14,500 homes and business covering 16.9 square miles.
With approximately 15 restaurants and more than 100 shops, the Sponge Docks offer something of interest for everyone. Also, Tarpon Springs offers sightseeing cruises down the Anclote River, a casino cruise, a sponge diving exhibition, a 120,000 gallon salt water aquarium, a sponge museum and deep sea fishing.
Tarpon Springs contains five public schools: Tarpon Springs High School, Tarpon Springs Middle School, Tarpon Elementary School, Sunset Hills Elementary and Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary School, as well as St Petersburg College. In addition, there are three private schools and several childcare facilities within the boundaries of Tarpon Springs.
For beach and nature lovers, Tarpon Springs is the home of Sunset Beach, Fred Howard Park, Anderson Park and Highland Nature Park.
Tarpon Springs has several eighteen-hole golf courses including Tarpon Springs Golf Course and Forrest Hills Golf Course.
Winding through the town is the Pinellas Trail which extends from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. This trail is used by bicyclists, joggers, skaters, and walkers.
